About me

My name is Shuoming Qu, some know me as Howie.

I created this website as a convergence point for my interests in vintage, clothing, and Americana. Born in China, I relocated to Alaska when my father pursued a PhD in Arctic Archaeology and Anthropology. One could say this nostalgia for bygone eras is shaped by the environment in which I was raised. Vivid memories of replica skeletons in my father’s cramped collegiate office and the excited hum of graduate students as they uncovered bones eaten by prehistoric humans come to mind as I write this.

When I studied Apparel Merchandising in college, an interest in vintage took hold. To me, vintage clothing was a part-time job, treasure hunt, and classroom of its own. I learned so much about the dating and provenance of items, fashion history, and aesthetic curation while searching for more vintage.

Now, having completed my Master’s in Apparel Merchandising and Design, I’m looking to expand my horizons and go one step further. This website represents the intersection of vintage and my desire to create garments of my own. You will find a mix of vintage and production garments for sale, along with the occasional article.
